Hurricane Harvey Aftermath | Victims Still Need Your Help

All of us at Root Level Technology would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the concern expressed to us and to our customers. Although our offices are headquartered in Houston; we have a data center here and in Florida as well as employees in both states. Despite the devastating situation surrounding us and our offices, our data centers and our employees are all safe and ready to help. In Houston – it’s been over two weeks since Hurricane Harvey passed and countless victims are still recovering from the catastrophic storm. In Florida, Hurricane Irma made landfall Sunday in the Florida Keys, and the devastation will persist as this storm heads north this week. The calamitous rampages of both these storms have left many displaced and in need. Organizations are on the ground helping victims, it is never too late for your help.

During the storm in Houston, we opened our offices as a dry location with electricity and wifi for first responders and anyone affected. We have also extended our services to those local businesses that have been affected by flooding with one month of free colocation services. We are proud to report that despite record floods, both our data centers remained dry with zero down time for our valued customers. Now that the flooding is slowly receding in Houston, our work is far from over. As a team, we personally know families who have lost everything. Our team would like to be at the forefront of helping Hurricane Harvey victims rebuild their lives.

With all of our hearts breaking as we see the indescribable aftermath and misplaced victims of the hurricane, we have had several inquiries from others wanting to know how to help. Houston has a well established infrastructure of nonprofits and is well prepared to assemble to help citizens as we did post Katrina for our New Orleans neighbors. We recommend cash contributions to one of the large reputable organizations such as the Red Cross, Houston SPCA, Houston Food Bank, The Texas Diaper Bank and Houston Humane Society that have all been working nonstop to meet the incredible needs.

Ways You Can Get Involved:

For those wanting to help with goods, we will be assembling care packages to distribute to affected areas. If you would like to donate any of the following, our employees will be personally distributing to our local neighbors affected:

Cleanup buckets – You may send supplies or full buckets. Used buckets are okay as long as no chemicals were stored in them previously (paint, pool cleaner etc.). For more information, click here.
